Lazy Susan for Make Up

Hi there,

My make up storage situation has been bugging me for a while now. You see, I have a IKEA Expedit desk and I store my daily makeup and skin care in one of the cubicle. I'm quite short on storage and space and so it was the best option for me. However, as you will see in the photos below they way I had things arranged was not the best because every time I would reach into to grab a brush my arm would graze on the item towards the front and sometimes things would fall. Also, it also meant that I had to look to find what I was looking for and it would take up sometime (time that is much needed when I'm late). Hence, slowly my insanity grew...

Then, as I was watching a video from Allthatglitters21 (a popular makeup guru on youtube) she showed how she used a spinning makeup caddy to store her brushes. Unfortunately, she said that the company gave her the caddy as a gift and the similar one she showed was not to my liking. Thus, began my search for the perfect makeup holder and to my dismay I found nothing to my liking and I searched the internet high and low. I was frustrated and slight depress. You see, in my unrealistic mind whatever product I needed surely someone out there has already created the product for me to buy, but not in this case.

And then it came to me... All I needed was something that spins! Lucky for me there was a product out there that spins! The common Lazy Susan! Yay! I was seriously happy, but here comes another bump on the road, I needed one that was less than 33cm in diameter but most of the ones I found was 35cm and up. Finally! Ebay came to the rescue and I found a seller that sold one that was 30cm! Boo-Yeah! Mission accomplished!

So, without further ado, Here are the picture of my project.

BEFORE
Sorry about the unclean brushes

AFTER
with clean brushes too! ^-^

I used old candle holders and glass jars to store the brushed in. For the big one holding the face brushes, I did buy a new glass vase. I was being cheap so I used rice to fill the glasses rather than buying the beads. I have seen other people used coffee beans as well, but since my jars are small I don't think they would hold the brushed up well. I had to store the lipstick holder on the top cubicle since there wasn't space on the bottom cubicle but as you can see, I store more of my hair clips in there as well now cause the Lazy Susan freed up some space so that's cool. So that was my solution to my makeup storage. That's not all of my make up but that's what I use on a daily basis. It is, however all of my skin care and brushes!!! So now I feel super organized! If you have a similar problem, hopefully this inspires you too!

Can't believe I created this blog in 2010 and two years later its still empty. Well, not anymore! I shall blog and keep a record of the things that matter to me. PROMISE! After trying a bunch of username and password, I finally found the right one to log back into the account. Everything looks so DIFFERENT. Honestly, I have no idea how to use any of this yet but I guess that what this post is for. Testing. I will figure it out! I must! I really might be the only Gen-Y person you can not use technology. *Sigh....

Hopefully I will blog soon and figure this whole thing out!
